As part of our responsibilities under the EU Cybersecurity Act, the NCCA of Cyprus participated as a member of the peer review team in the assessment of the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA), acting as Malta’s National Cybersecurity Certification Authority.

Τhe peer review was conducted on the 24th and 25th of June 2026, with the support and coordination of the European Commission and ENISA. The process brought together expert peer reviewers from Cyprus and Slovakia, alongside observers from Austria, Slovenia, and Sweden, reflecting the collaborative and cross-border nature of the European cybersecurity certification framework.

Throughout the process, the team actively contributed to the evaluation of the Authority’s governance arrangements, supervisory functions, and practical implementation of the EUCC framework. The team provided structured input and observations that supported a comprehensive assessment of the Authority’s compliance, operational maturity, and readiness within the European cybersecurity certification ecosystem.

Peer reviews serve as a key mechanism to ensure consistent and reliable supervisory practices across all National Cybersecurity Certification Authorities within the EU. They play an essential role in strengthening mutual confidence among Member States, promoting the harmonised implementation of the EU cybersecurity certification framework, and ensuring the credibility and trustworthiness of European cybersecurity certificates.

This successful peer review further contributes to reinforcing trust in the European cybersecurity certification ecosystem and supports the ongoing development of a coherent and resilient framework across Member States.
